AMP Economic Development

American Municipal Power, Inc. (AMP) was founded in 1971 when a number of forward thinking municipally owned electric systems joined forces for the purpose of owning electric facilities to lower rates and increase the reliability of power supply for the benefit of their consumer-owners.

Today, AMP is a nonprofit, wholesale electric power and services provider, serving 135 members - 134 member municipal electric communities in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Virginia, Kentucky, West Virginia, Indiana and Maryland, and the Delaware Municipal Electric Corporation, a joint action agency headquartered in Smyrna, Delaware. Owned and governed by its member communities, the organization is dedicated to providing low cost electric power. Visit the AMP website to learn more about AMP.
